Five Principles to Design By article

When reading the part about “Design is not Art”, I immediately thought back to the websites that were on “The 10 Worst Web Sites to Navigate in 2006″ (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/10-worst-mystery-meat-navigation-sites-featured-on-web-pages-that-suck-in-2006.html). It seemed that some of those designers forgot that everyday people would be using their web site to obtain information quickly. This author talks about design being for use, thus good design needs to work well. And that you should make sure you don’t get too carried away tiring to be artistic. I also like the way of thinking, that a good designer knows what to keep and what to get rid of, always keeping in mind that the main goal is to make the users experience a smooth and simple one.
